Clarity

With the recent Omicron spikes challenging our “normal” yet again, finding clarity is harder than ever. Life has been uncertain since early 2020, and it seems like “normal” is getting farther and farther away.

Uncertainty has a negative impact on our ability to focus and problem solve, but clarity can help bring us away from this uncertainty.

Clarity can calm the mind and reduce our sense of feeling threatened, which improves our ability to focus. It allows you to create a sense of ease and grounding around your life, which will increase your confidence and in turn increase productivity and success. When you have clarity on your goals, whether personal or professional, your mind is open to new ideas that could bring you places you hadn’t considered before.

When you create clarity for your team, you help eliminate stress and provide more grounding for a way forward. Providing clarity can be a powerful tool to help you and your employees focus, collaborate, and deliver what matters.

“Clarity and simplicity are the antidotes to complexity and uncertainty.”
- General George Casey

Resources to Support Your Clarity

EXERCISE

2022 Year End Review
So much happens over the course of a year. But by the time New Year's rolls around, we often forget most of what happened because life gets in the way. Taking a year end review is a powerful exercise to see how far you have really come, even if you didn’t achieve all your goals. A year end review puts into perspective the impact you are making as a whole being, not just at work.

WORKSHEET

Circle of Influence Worksheet
A simple and powerful worksheet to sharpen your focus and boost your clarity using Stephen Covey’s Circle of Influence and Circle of Control from his book The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People.

10 Minute Morning Meditation
To capture the stillness of that first moment of wakefulness, Kate Waitzkin recorded a ten-minute guided meditation focused on clarity, stability, and presence. You can play it anytime you’re looking to center yourself in the present and find some clarity and stability.

INSPIRATION

I put together ten questions which can help you to gain more clarity and feel more at ease.

  1. What is the biggest blocker for me at the moment?

  2. What is not urgent at the moment but still worries me?

  3. What can I/we do to get more clarity on what seems unclear?

  4. Where do I find clarity, confidence and stability when it doesn’t exist around me?

  5. How do I stay in the place of being creative when I want to be more comfortable?

  6.  Do I have enough information to be able to act and communicate at the moment? If not, what else would I need for the moment?

  7. What can be a good next step for now?

  8. What can I do to find answers and clarity to be less stressed? What usually helps me to shift into a different mindset? Whatever it is, do it now!

  9. What do I do to create trust with my team? What do I do that might create mistrust? (If you don’t have answers, ask the people you work with.)

  10. What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?
